This project was by far the scariest project in this course. I am not really fond of recording myself either audio or video. For this lesson, we were required to create a podcast. We were asked to choose intro music and have it fade away as we began to talk. I found myself listening to other podcasts which is something I really haven't done in the past. I really hope to continue finding podcasts to listen to in the future. What a great way to learn while you are on the go. I did feel a great sense of accomplishment when I had completed my three podcasts and will definitely consider podcasts as an optional way to provide training to the teachers I work with. It is still a bit unnerving to hear myself but overall I was pleased with the results. I choose to record information and tips about Chromeboooks since we have just purchased two Chromebook carts at my school.
This project came at a perfect time. My school will be receiving 64 Chromebooks in the next couple of weeks. We currently have two laptops carts and a computer lab that students and teachers reserve. I felt it would be beneficial for both teachers and students to have some information to introduce them to Chromebooks since they are a bit different than laptops. The objective of this three part Podcast was to first provide some basic information about Chromebooks including some of the benefits. From there, the next two podcasts contain information describing apps and extensions that students and teachers might use for writing research papers and in math and science.
Teachers and students are very busy people. The podcast format is perfect to provide 5 - 10 minute sessions that a person can listen to at any time that is convenient. I kept the podcasts short and simple in the hopes that teachers would not be intimidated by the material or the length of the session. I hope to continue this podcast series as a way to provide quick helpful information for teachers. They can listen to the podcast during their planning period or on the ride to or from school. I plan to add a page to our teacher tech website that will provide a location for teachers to access the podcasts.
